‘Navigating Brexit’ at the House of Commons
Article 50 is due to be triggered tomorrow March 29th 2017 by Theresa May, signifying the exit of Britain from the EU. Brookvent recently attended an event hosted by The London Irish Construction Network (TLICN), called “Navigating Brexit”, at The House of Commons. The evening began with a reception followed by a lively discussion on the UK’s exit from Europe, especially it’s impact for Ireland and the construction industry.
Speakers on the evening were Minister Joe McHugh, Minister for the Diaspora and Robin Walker, the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Exiting the European Union.
Dr Alasdair McDonnell, SDLP MP for Belfast South, sponsored the event and also plays an important role of introducing may members of the Belfast and NI construction community to TLICN for mutual benefit.
Debate and speculation continues around the potential outcomes and implications Brexit will have for businesses in the UK and in particular the construction industry. This will become apparent as the next two years unfold and the exit deal makes it’s way into the public domain.
