At Brookvent we manufacture award winning Heat Recovery Ventilation systems (HRV, MVHR) designed specifically for the residential sector. As a ventilation specialist, we always endeavour to provide excellent products and services to our customers.
One way of doing this is through listening to the marketplace and analysing any issues we come across when in the field, then putting steps in place to combat these. Our latest initiative has been creating processes to help end users remember when to change their filters.
Why Are Filters Important?
Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) works by recovering heat from extract air that would normally be expelled to the atmosphere and transfers this heat to fresh air being drawn into the property via a heat exchanger. The Heat Recovery Ventilation (HRV) system then distributes this throughout the property via a network of ducting.
A key part of this process is filtering the air that comes into the system to ensure a healthier environment within the property. This filtering process is key in ensuring clean, fresh air is being distributed.
As the filter is actively cleaning the air it will naturally become dirty and clogged over time. Therefore, to maintain a healthy unit it is imperative that these filters are checked regularly and replaced when necessary.
If a filter is not replaced it will not only damage the unit, but it will also affect the air quality within the property it is supposed to be maintaining.
Brookvent Timestrip Initiative
In order to educate and remind end users on the importance of changing their filters, we have put several steps in place. Through our website (brookvent.ie) users can purchase the relevant filters they need directly. All of our filters are pictured alongside the relevant unit to make it as easy as possible to identify the right set.
As well as making filters accessible and easy to purchase we also provide an automated reminder service. Anyone who buys a filter from us will receive an e-mail 11 months after their purchase to prompt them that they need to order a replacement.
As useful as this reminder is, there are occasions when filters will need to be replaced before 12 months. In fact, it is advised that filters are checked at 3-month intervals as different environments can cause filters to clog quicker.
To address this issue, we have began providing Timestrip filter reminders with all filter kits. These Timestrips provide a visual 12-month countdown, so users can easily see how long their filters have been in use. Each Timestrip comes with an instruction card and clearly indicates when filters should be checked:
By providing an easy to use visual aid, we hope to reduce the amount of issues caused by unchanged filters. We are dedicated to providing clean, fresh air to our end users and will continue to go the extra mile.
